I really enjoyed taking part in Nottingham Outlaws Photography Society themed competitions. It gave me the drive and opportunity to go searching for the perfect photo, and in the search I found I began to see the world in a different way.

These are some of my favourite photos which I submitted for the theme competitions.

Art Deco Tattoo

This was the my first winning entry for the NOPS club competition. The theme was Tattoos. I think it is a photo which takes time to understand. Which are my favourite kind. It’s such a beautiful tattoo that you could be forgiven for thinking it could be an vase, at first glance. It is only when you see the hairs shining in the light that it becomes clear that you are looking at Steph’s forearm.

Opposites – Utility and Ornament
Standing Opposite / Georgian Facades.

I submitted this photo for two themed competitions – Opposites and Perspectives. The original photo had a van parked on the left hand side of the street in the beam of sunshine cutting through the buildings. It took quite a bit of cloning and editing to remove it. You might be able to see where it once was.
